GM’s New Self Driving Vehicle

In Shanghai General Motors Corporation unleashed one of its most innovative and technologically advanced concept cars to date. They have named the concept car the Electric Networked-Vehicle, aka the EN-V. According to the automaker, their newest vehicle can be run with or without the assistance of a driver. The two-wheeled, two-seated electric car makes use of sophisticated Global Positioning System technology and vehicle-to-vehicle communications to find the fastest routes with the least amount of traffic.

This groundbreaking concept won’t be hitting the streets anytime in the near future but GM stated that it does hope vehicles similar to the EN-V will start to take over the streets by the year 2030. The car is meant to transform the future of transportation by making it safer, more emissions free, and even more fun. With cars like this city driving might just become a little less frustrating. GM teamed up with the innovative talent at Segway to help its concept come to life.

Powering the EN-V are lithium-ion battery-powered electric motors which can be found in each of its two wheels. This allows the car to travel almost 25 miles on one charge with a top speed of 25 miles per hour. The car is incredibly small at around 1,100 pounds and five feet long.

General Motors has really done a fantastic job at looking to solve many transportation problems with one vehicle. I could see cars like the EN-V being very useful in cities with a lot of congestion such as New York or Los Angeles.
